Impact of climate change on water cycle
From the past few decades, the globe has experienced a surge in the amount of climate change. Surprisingly, a corresponding surge has been witnessed in the rate with which water cycle proceeds. Reports suggest that the water cycle has been intensified by a factor of 30 due to climate change, specifically when it comes to the rate of evaporation.
This has not only brought about rapid precipitations but a formation of uneven water distribution across the globe. Some areas receive lesser amounts of annual precipitation than what they need while some lands(near the coast) receive even greater amounts. In simple terms, some areas got deserted while the others will flourish too much due to the excessive humid environment. But conditions are still uncertain since, it is likely to be the oceanic areas which would flourish due to excessive evaporation, but not even the coastal ones.
Impact of climate change on water quality
As of current situations, climate change has not only brought threat to the water supplies but also a depletion in the quality of the scarce amount of water that would be left to us. Those areas which would see water resources for the first and last time, would see it only in the form of severe floods. Those who would survive, have to cope up with the water that would be left after huge sedimentations during flood which is nothing less than a suitable home for pre-existing pathogens and also a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Impact of climate change on water resources project
To harness the tidal energies or even the potential energies of flowing water, various water resource projects have been set up with the vision to make this world a sustainable place to live. But everything seems to be of no use in front of the problems that climate change brings to us. 1719 dams in a country like India only, have been demolished in a single blow due to the frequent occurrences of floods brought by climate change. Not only is climate change impacting the globe financially by huge destruction of water resource projects but also, it brings about a crack in the dream of a sustainable future.
